The bees are asking us to evolve how we tend to them. The conventional methods of mechanized beekeeping often cause more harm than good. When we look to how bees live in their natural habitat, we can learn a lot about who they are and how they want to live.
My approach to bees is one based in intuition, science, folklore, observation, deep listening, and reverence.
I teach natural beekeeping, with a slant toward the sacred. However, I've also received beekeeping training from Cornell University and have spent many years learning about wild bees and what they can
teach us about the hives we tend in our back yards.
I offer mentorship sessions for those seeking to gain knowledge and support on their beekeeping journey
My approach to beekeeping is bee-centric and relational. In our session, we will discuss not only the ins and outs of your beekeeping experience, but also how you might forge deeper connection with the bees themselves.
Bee-centric approach
Need support setting up? I can help with
recommendations for hive styles, hive placement, feeding, handling comb, and understanding what you're seeing.
Is your hive having an issue? Are you worried about their health or want to understand why you lost a hive? I can help discern what's going on and give advice and/or council.
I offer practices and support on how to connect with your hive in a more intentional, intuitive way.
I've been on this bee mystery ride for a long time, and the thing I keep reminding myself is to always stay curious.
My beekeeping journey has included:
• Top bar, Warré, and Langstroth beekeeping
• Swarm catching
• Treatment free beekeeping
• Honey and sting
• Death and disease
• Making splits, combining colonies, moving hives, and other advanced skills
• Bees landing all over me
• Bees visiting my dreams
• Speaking at conferences, teaching, studying, and writing.
Some people come with a list of questions. Other's send videos and photos ahead of time so I can help them understand a problem or how to do something. Other folks like guided meditations to help connect with bees. And others want help transitioning from conventional methods to more bee-centric methods.
Whatever you beekeeping needs are, I'm here for them.
